First five steps

  1. 1
    Stop contact and payments

Do not send more money, codes, documents or personal information. Block the suspicious contact after saving evidence.

  2. 2
    Contact your bank immediately

Use the official number from your bank or payment provider. Ask whether the transaction can be stopped, reversed or disputed.

  3. 3
    Secure your accounts

Change exposed passwords from a trusted device, enable multi-factor authentication and review active sessions and recovery details.

  4. 4
    Preserve evidence

Save URLs, screenshots, messages, phone numbers, usernames, dates, receipts and transaction references before deleting anything.

  5. 5
    Report in both places

Report the ad to Massage Republics and report financial loss or crime to the official authority in your country.

If information was exposed

Take additional action based on what the scammer received.

  • Card or bank details: contact the issuer and monitor transactions
  • Password: change it anywhere it was reused
  • Email access: secure recovery options and sign out other sessions
  • Identity document: contact the issuing authority and local identity-theft service
  • Remote device access: disconnect, remove the software and seek trusted technical help

Never include these in a report

Massage Republics does not need secret credentials to investigate a listing.

  • Passwords or one-time verification codes
  • Full card number, PIN, CVV or bank password
  • Cryptocurrency seed phrase or private key
  • Unredacted identity documents unless an authorized authority requires them

Watch for recovery scams

Fraud victims are often targeted again by people claiming they can recover lost money for an upfront fee.

  • Do not pay a recovery fee to an unsolicited contact
  • Do not share wallet keys or allow remote device access
  • Verify agencies through an independently found official website
